Krantzkloof Nature Reserve (Nkutu), Kloof outing 12 May 2012

Krantzkloof Nature Reserve (Nkutu), Kloof
Saturday, 12 May: 14H00
Forest & grassland walk accompanied by EKZNWL Honorary Officer, John Terblanche.
We will be exploring the Nkutu section of the reserve, which runs along the Nkutu River. It differs from the more commonly visited part of the reserve in that it consists of both grassland and riverine forest, with dry mixed bushveld dominating the north-facing slopes. It offers a wealth of plant species from the different biomes and spectacular views into and across the Nkutu gorge. The area is rich in bird life and a resident pair of Crowned Eagles is often spotted. Also present are Zebra, Bushbuck, Duiker species, Vervet monkeys and Rock Hyrax.

There is a R15.00 Reserve entry fee - or bring your EKZN Wildlife Rhino Card. Non-BotSoc members are asked to pay an additional donation of R10.00 to BotSoc.

Meet at Nkutu parking area (not the main parking area near the Interpretative Centre in the Gorge). Please see directions attached. Please confirm attendance with Lindsay Bowker on email lindsaybowker@gmail.com or cellphone 071 452 7063.
